BUTTE DAREDEVILS AND WEB TELEVISION NETWORK TO HOST EVEL KNIEVEL MEMORIAL SERVICES
December 7, 2007 – The Butte Daredevils announced today that it will carry the memorial services for legendary daredevil Evel Knievel from his hometown of Butte, Montana.
Services will begin live Monday, December 10, 2007 at 10:30 AM (MST) from the Butte Civic Center on www.buttedaredevils.com via Web Television Network. Public viewing begins at 7:00 AM (MST).
“Friday, November 30 marked the end of what will forever be remembered as the longest and most courageous battle between one man, a man we all know as the world's greatest daredevil, and death,” the daredevil’s official Web site said. “Robert Craig "Evel" Knievel died in Clearwater, Florida, finally succumbing after nearly a three-year bout with the terminal lung disease, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. He was 69.”
Knievel became famous for his death-defying stunts, including motorcycle jumps over the fountains at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas and Snake River Canyon in Idaho.
"It's been coming for years, but you just don't expect it,” longtime friend and promoter Billy Rundle told ESPN. “Superman just doesn't die, right?"
